Sure you can call it a virtual que which it is no standing in line which is all great. However, I did not understand its a lottery. The ride reached capacity in two minutes of park opening at Disneyland yesterday.
We got up at 6:00 am and went to Disneyland and I can tell you we typically don't show up at opening. I am a passholder we go all the time so no need to rush to the park. Our mission was to go on Ride of the Resistance! I have been to plenty of ride openings and I was even at grand opening night of Star Wars land. How hard could this be?
One minute before 8:00 am I opened my app and had everything prepared. I knew to have tickets linked and to be logged in. I knew I had to be fast! I hit boarding pass at 8:00:00 and got 126. I was lucky I got a number but its a number you don't want. A backup number. You could hear guests cheering while I saw children crying. As a travel adviser how do I explain this to clients? It's simple like I heard a guest in the park say "You are one of the lucky ones" to a guest who was able to ride. At 1 pm were were sent a text your number will not be called today.
You may want to consider Walt Disney World vs planning a trip to Disneyland if this is the reason your going to the park. Walt Disney World guests go for multiple days and get multiple chances. Disneyland guests go on average go for one day. Your odds are just less currently. I hope they next time I try in a few months it will be a better experience for all.
Last night we came home after not getting on the ride and watched the ride on YouTube as a family. Looks amazing and I can see why so many want to ride.
I wish you all good luck!
